How to Use Your Canva Label Template
Ready to customize and print your Spartan Industrial Labels? We'll show you how to download your Canva template and adjust the settings to ensure your labels print accurately. Whether you're creating circle, square, or rectangular labels, these step-by-step instructions will help you get quality results every time.
How to Access Your Template
Note: A Canva Pro account is required to access full editing features.
- Navigate to your label size by clicking Label Templates in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
- Use the filters on the left to narrow your search by size, shape, or template code, then click the product title that matches your labels.
- On the product page, click the Canva icon. The template will automatically open in a new browser tab.
- Click View Template. If you're not signed in, log in to your Canva account or create one. (Accounts are free to create, but Pro features are available exclusively to paying members.)
- Click Open in Editor. An editable copy of the template will open in your Canva account.

How to Insert Text
- Select the label shape where you want to add text.
- From the left-hand menu, click Text > Add a text box.
- Drag and position the text box over your label shape.
- Customize your font, size, and color to fit your design.
How to Insert Images
- Select the label shape where you want your image to appear.
- From the left-hand menu, click Uploads, then Upload Files to add your images to the library.
- Once uploaded, select your images from the library.
- Adjust, crop, and center your image as needed. Tip: If you see a red border warning, avoid placing designs too close to the edge. Most printers can't print to the edge, which could result in unwanted white borders.
How to Print Your Labels
Follow these steps to print your labels accurately.
Step 1: Prepare Your File
- When your design is ready, click Share > Download.
- Set the file type to PDF Print for best printing results.
- Open the downloaded file and select Print.
Step 2: Adjust Your Print Settings
- In More Settings, set the scale to 100% (Actual Size).
- Open your System Print dialog box and set the media type to Heavyweight Paper or Label Paper.
- For PC users, installing or updating y our printer driver can help improve alignment. Please see our How to Check and Update Your Print Driver article for detailed instructions.
Step 3: Load Your Paper
- Place your label sheets into your printer tray with the printable side facing the correct direction. If you're unsure which side prints, note which way you loaded the sheet and test print one label to confirm which side it prints on.
- Make sure the sheets are loaded straight and not shifted, curled, or bent. How you load the paper can affect alignment.
Step 4: Print a Test Page
- Always print a single test page before printing your labels in bulk. This ensures your design and alignment are correct before using additional sheets. A test page allows you to make adjustments if needed and prevents too many wasted labels or misaligned prints.
- If the design is slightly off, make small margin adjustments. For circle labels, extend your design slightly beyond the edge of each label to create a bleed. For square/rectangle labels, shift your design by tiny increments (0.1" or less) in the direction needed.
- Reprint a test page and check the alignment. Please note our templates include a 2mm margin allowance.
- Once the alignment looks correct, print the full quantity of label sheets needed.
